These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CLT Home Guardian website and house sitting services. By using our website or services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services Description
CLT Home Guardian provides professional house sitting, home watch, and related property care services in the Charlotte, NC metropolitan area. Our services include but are not limited to:
- Daily check-in visits with property inspection
- Overnight house sitting
- Extended stay home protection
- Pet care services (as an add-on)
- Mail and package collection
- Plant care and basic maintenance
- Emergency response coordination
2. Service Agreement
All house sitting services require a written Service Agreement that specifies:
- Service dates and times
- Specific services to be performed
- Pricing and payment terms
- Access information and emergency contacts
- Special instructions or requirements
Important: Services will not commence until a Service Agreement is signed by both parties and any required deposits are received.
3. Pricing and Payment
3.1 Pricing
Current service rates are listed on our website but may change without notice. The pricing in your signed Service Agreement will be honored for that service period.
3.2 Payment Terms
- A deposit may be required for services exceeding 7 days
- Payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed
- We accept payment via check, Venmo, Zelle, or other agreed methods
- Late payments may incur additional fees
3.3 Holiday Pricing
Services scheduled during major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day) may be subject to a 15-25% surcharge as specified at booking.
4. Cancellation Policy
- 7+ days notice: Full refund of any deposits
- 3-6 days notice: 50% of deposit may be retained
- Less than 3 days notice: Full deposit may be retained
- No-show: Full service fee may be charged
We understand emergencies happen. Please contact us as soon as possible if your plans change, and we'll work with you to find a fair solution.
5. Client Responsibilities
By using our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about your property and requirements
- Ensure safe access to your property (working locks, adequate lighting)
- Inform us of any security systems, alarm codes, and how to operate them
- Disclose any known hazards or safety concerns
- Provide emergency contact information
- Ensure pets are current on vaccinations and disclose any behavioral issues
- Leave adequate supplies for pets (food, medication, etc.)
- Provide written instructions for any special requirements
6. Our Responsibilities
CLT Home Guardian agrees to:
- Perform services as outlined in the Service Agreement
- Treat your property with care and respect
- Maintain confidentiality of your personal information
- Provide documentation (photos, reports) of each visit
- Respond promptly to emergencies during the service period
- Notify you immediately of any significant issues or concerns
7. Limitation of Liability
While we take every precaution to protect your property:
- CLT Home Guardian is not responsible for pre-existing conditions or problems
- We are not liable for damages caused by natural disasters, acts of God, or criminal activity by third parties
- We are not responsible for the death or injury of pets due to pre-existing health conditions
- Our liability is limited to the amount paid for services
- We are not responsible for valuables, cash, or irreplaceable items left in the home
Recommendation: We recommend maintaining adequate homeowner's insurance for your property. Our services complement but do not replace proper insurance coverage.
8. Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency:
- We will contact appropriate emergency services (911, fire, police) if there is immediate danger
- We will notify you as soon as safely possible
- We will take reasonable steps to mitigate damage (e.g., turning off water, securing the property)
- We will coordinate with your designated emergency contacts if you are unreachable
Costs incurred for emergency services (plumbers, locksmiths, etc.) called at your request or on your behalf are your responsibility.
9. Keys and Access
You will provide access to your property via keys, codes, or other means. We will:
- Keep all keys and access information secure and confidential
- Return all keys upon completion of services unless otherwise arranged
- Never duplicate keys without your written permission
- Never share access information with unauthorized parties
10. Pet Care Terms
If pet care services are included:
- You warrant that your pets are current on required vaccinations
- You must disclose any medical conditions, behavioral issues, or special needs
- We reserve the right to seek veterinary care in an emergency, with costs being your responsibility
- We are not responsible for escape attempts if proper containment was not provided
- Aggressive animals may result in service termination without refund
11. Confidentiality
We will maintain strict confidentiality regarding:
- Your personal and contact information
- Your property address and security details
- Your travel schedules and absence periods
- The interior of your home and its contents
12. Photography and Documentation
As part of our service, we take photos to document our visits and the condition of your property. These photos are:
- Shared only with you, the client
- Used for service documentation purposes only
- Not published, shared on social media, or used for marketing without your written consent
13. Termination
Either party may terminate services:
- With reasonable notice as outlined in the Cancellation Policy
- Immediately if there is a safety concern
- If either party materially breaches these Terms
We reserve the right to terminate services if we discover undisclosed hazards, aggressive animals, or illegal activity.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
